Making any major life change can be tough. There’s no easy way around that simple fact. When you’re advancing in years and have decided that assisted living would be the best caregiver choice to make, that doesn’t mean the move will be easy.
Everyone has expectations regarding just about everything. Whether it’s expectations about a job, marriage, school, entering your 50’s or 60’s or 70’s, or what have you, a person’s expectations are often shaped by what they read about or have experienced in the past. When it comes to assisted living for elder care, it is a difficult topic for many people to bring up with aging parents, grandparents, and other loved ones. Most of it has to do with assumptions and expectations.
Thank you all for making my transition at The Springs such a wonderful experience. I started my journey here about two weeks ago and have enjoyed every minute of it. Every family member, resident, and team member I have encountered has been very welcoming and it makes me extremely blessed to be here. I started my Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Independent Living career in 2007. I worked my way through numerous departments before realizing my calling to be an Administrator of a community.
Janice was a vivacious, outgoing person most of her life. When she became widowed at 73, she wasn’t sure how her life would change. She simply knew it was going to change. She didn’t want to live her life without her husband, but that choice was not hers. At that time, the last thing she even would’ve considered was assisted living for senior care services.
Moving can be stressful. In fact, moving, even for something you have been looking forward to for many years, can be stressful. When an aging senior is moving to assisted living, a wonderful elder care option to consider, they are going to need help.
